All stages of VIN are pre-cancerous. If left untreated it may go away or it may develop into cancer. This type of condition usually takes years to develop into cancer though. Some of the symptoms are mild to severe itching and burning, or abnormal coloration of the vulva.
A diagnosis of Vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia may also indicate the presence of a genital wart or vaginosis.
