Atrophic Vaginitis
Atrophic vaginitis and lichen sclerosus are rather dangerous conditions; some cases even require a cone biopsy to remove affected areas.
The inflammation of the vagina and vulva are associated with dryness and thinning of the tissue. It is usually accompanied by skin irritation and unpleasant sensations in the genital area. This condition occurs mostly in women after menopause and is caused by the lack of estrogen.

Estrogen replacement therapy is usually recommended as well as cure for skin irritation. Difficulty while urinating, burning and itching, spotting, and pain during intercourse are often reported. The condition may also occur in breast-feeding women or those with removed ovaries. Atrophic vaginitis and lichen sclerosus are rather dangerous conditions; some cases even require a cone biopsy to remove affected areas.
