Lichens Sclerosus
Lichens sclerosus is a painful infection that can be diagnosed with a pap smear and is not caused by HPV.
Post-menopausal women are the most common sufferers of LS. Men and boys have also been diagnosed with LS. The most common misdiagnosis for LS is a yeast infection; other misdiagnoses include herpes or a bacteria infection. LS falls under the general category of vulvodynia (chronic vulvar pain).
